Nathan Bedford Forrest Great Escape
Living History Event

at Parker's Crossroads Battlefield Park!

A schedule of events will be posted the first week of June.

This event will feature mid-nineteenth century civilian life and military
demonstrations from the 1862 Civil War era. Watch history unfold as
General Forrest employs tactics such as "Charge 'em both ways" as
demonstrated by military living history interpreters. Observe first hand
the hardships of civilians in war torn West Tennessee. Live demonstrations
will be scheduled throughout the weekend which will offer fun entertainment
and education for the whole family. So come take a step back in time
and experience all the sights and sounds of a working home place, military
camps, and other educational exhibits at the first annual
Nathan Bedford Forrest Great Escape.

We hope during your visit, you will wander through the
16th Annual Battleground Chili Cook-off Area
.
The cook-off is held each year and sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation
Society International (CASI). All proceeds from this event go to the
preservation of the Parker's Crossroads National Battlefield Park.
Throughout the years, this group has donated over $20,000 to the
preservation efforts of the Battlefield Association. What began as
a small event, has now become the premier chili cook-off East of the
Mississippi River, attracting many past world and international champions!
