AUTHENTICITY REQUIREMENTS

UNIFORMS / CLOTHING

Uniforms and civilian clothing must be of period design and material. No polyester uniforms or blue jeans will be permitted. Jefferson booties or other period footgear are recommended.  No tennis shoes will be allowed. No sun glasses or wristwatches will be worn. Headgear must be of proper period design

FIREARMS

Shoulder Arms: No Hawken or Kentucky Rifles will be permitted. It is recommended that weapons used will be Civil War type guns. All guns will be inspected for safety and authenticity.

Side Arms: Officers, NCO’s, cavalry, and artillery only will be allowed to carry revolvers. Swords may be carried only by officers, staff NCO’s, and Artillery, Sabres by  cavalry.

CAMPS

No twentieth century items will be allowed in camps. Ice chests and drinks in modern containers must be kept out of sight at all times.

SAFETY

All safety rules will be strictly enforced by unit commanders at all times. Commanders will inspect weapons prior to and immediately after all events.

There will be no firing in camp without special permission.

Edged weapons will not be unsheathed without the permission of an officer.

All firing will be done at an elevated angle within 15 yards of opposing participants. Do  not aim directly at another person.

Drunk or disorderly persons will be removed with the help of the proper authorities.

Musket charges to be no more than 80 grains. Cartridge paper will not be placed in the barrel and no wadding or ramming will be permitted.

Cartridges must be carried in a cartridge box. Extra rounds must be wrapped and carried in a secure place. No powder will be carried in horns, flasks, or cans in the field.

Rammers will be permitted on the field but must remain in their holders and will not be used for any reason.

Bayonets may be used for drill, picket duty, or may be ordered fixed by overall field commanders.

Only full size artillery or three quarter scale will be allowed.

Ammunition chests will remain closed except when powder charges are being removed.

Ammunition chest will be at least 25 feet behind the trail when the is placed in battery.
